The
Moths of Borneo by J.D. Holloway. Possibly the finest website about
Malaysian natural history. The parts of Holloway's landmark series dealing with
the Bombycoidia, including the Saturnidae (giant silk moths), and
the Sphingidae (sphinx moths), are online. A number of endemic species
known from one or a few battered specimens apparently have been wiped out by
habitat destruction.

Sumatran Rhinoceros, 18 November 2003 - All five captive Sumatran Rhinos
held in Peninsular Malaysia die as a result of gross negligence at the Sungai
Dusin Rhinoceros Centre. This is reminiscent of the deaths of all the Crested
Ibis remaining in Japan when the incompetent "captive breeding center" fed them
contaminated food.
